Miniature City – Madurodam (Holland)

An amazing place to be – The Miniature City – Madurodam in Holland. It is the model of a Dutch town scaled down 25 times the original size. It is composed of various Dutch buildings and landmarks as found at various locations in the country.

 

 

The place has miniatures for everything. From vehicles, to trains to aeroplanes in the airport – all working models, Miniature buildings, miniature people, miniature highways, miniature canal system etc. One can see trains (both passenger and goods and even high speed ones) at work.

Tiny human figures have been kept around the various buildings to show crowd. One may certainly feel like Gulliver when he accidentally travelled to the Lilliput land. Because we are so big as compared to the buildings (as well as the human figures) around the whole park. For people to understand what’s what and the significance of the place, various kiosks have been installed which can be operated by tourists to get information.

One of the major attraction of this place is Amsterdam Airport. Various models of planes can be seen taxied to load/unload passengers, where as some can even be seen running to get on the runway. I know what you’re thinking now. The answer is No, they can’t be seen flying. 🙂 The airport is full of people (of course miniature). The conveyer belt carrying luggage to/from planes can also be seen and there are also trucks to carry the luggage on planes.

One more attraction is the running Highway. You can see fast moving vehicles over on the highway and after a moment would realize, no… they are not real!

Madurodam is certainly a place one must keep in their “Places to Visit” list.
